A Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara taxi driver was on Wednesday night shot while in conversation on the public road.
The man, Bevon Granville is currently hospitalized. He was shot in his left thigh, the police said yesterday in a statement.
According to information provided by police, at about 7.30 pm on Wednesday, Granville was in the company of his girlfriend engaged in a conversation on the Stanleytown Public Road. It was then that “an identifiable male armed with a handgun discharged several rounds at him from a distance, one of which struck him; the shooter then escaped in an awaiting car.”
Police Commander Leslie James yesterday told Stabroek News they are still investigating the matter and are yet to determine a motive for the shooting.
