Ravens edged fierce rival Pacesetters by a 69-66 margin in the Open Division, when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) 2017 League Championship continued on Thursday.
Ryan Stephney led the winner with 16 points at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue. He was assisted by Dominic Vicente who shot his way to 14 points, while Owen Walton and Ryan Gullen added 11 and 10 points apiece.
For Pacesetters, Stephon Gillis was the main threat with 16 points. The next best scorers with 11 and 10 points were Nathan Saul and Travis Williams respectively.
The first period highlighted the trend of the contest as, neither team was able to dominate the contest. Ravens seized the early lead albeit marginal after outscoring Pacesetters 15-14.
Pacesetters then took control of the fixture at the end of the second period, netting 18 points while restricting their foe to 15 points to enter the halftime interval ahead at 32-30.
However, Ravens reduced the lead in the pivotal third period, outhustling Pacesetters 21-20 to trail 52-51 heading into the final stanza.
Nonetheless, Ravens secured the hard-fought victory, tallying 18 points while reducing Pacesetters 14 points.
Meanwhile, Colts dismantled Sonics 99-40 in the earlier fixture of the division. Jonathan Mangra and Quacey Lindo led the way with 15 points each, while Timothy Thompson added 14 points.
For the loser, Terrence Austin top scored with 12 points, while Jhaquawn Gill and Richard Heyliger contributed 10 and nine points respectively.
