Guyana’s Diane Chance captured a silver medal at the 59th annual Caribbean Table Tennis Championships in Havana, Cuba.
Chance reached the final of the women’s 45 years and over category where she narrowly lost to French Guiana’s Corinne Valliant 12-10, 8-11, 9-11, 11-4 and 9-11.
Guyana had earlier won a bronze medal in the women’s team events through their quartet of Trenace Lowe, Natalie Cummings, Chelsea Edghill and Priscilla Greaves.
Guyana won a bronze medal in the men’s when Christopher Franklin and Shemar Britton went under to Cubans Andy Pereira and Jorge Campos in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile at the Annual general Meeting Jamaica won the bid to host the 2018 senior championships and according to reports, the Latin American Table Tennis Union (LATTU) headed by former Caribbean men’s singles champion Juan Vila will allocate US$7000 towards the championships.
