Two men who were positively identified by their victims, were each granted $15,000 bail on Friday.
Michael Agar, 20, of Lot 3948 Stevedore Scheme, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and Rudolph Ramsammy, 18, of Kumaka, Mabaruma, were read separate charges of assault when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.
It was alleged that Agar and Ramsammy on July 17, at Wainamu, Mabaruma, North West District, assaulted Shedroy Hercules with the intent to rob him.
They both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail on the grounds that both defendants had been positively identified, and the seriousness and nature of the offence.
Chief Magistrate McLennan later granted Agar and Ramsammy bail of $15,000 each, and adjourned the matter until August 22 for the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court.
