A 31-year-old Guyanese man has been arrested in Trinidad and Tobago after he was accused of raping another man, according to a Newsday report.
The report said the victim was on his way to board a flight for Tobago at the Piarco International Airport last Saturday when he saw a man he thought he recognised.
He was approached by the individual, who indicated he was on his way to Tobago as well but he needed to go to his apartment to freshen up and change and he asked the student to accompany him.
The report said the victim told investigators that because the man look familiar, he was not suspicious of the invite and went along. However, as soon as they arrived at the apartment, he said the man placed a knife to his neck and ordered him to perform oral sex on him. Afterward, he said the man sodomised him for close to ten minutes, the newspaper report added.
The victim subsequently made a report to the police and he was taken to a hospital, where he was examined and issued with a medical certificate.
Police officers later visited the apartment and the Guyanese man was arrested. He is expected to be placed on an identification parade for the rape acts and other criminal acts reported by victims.
