In effort to prepare for the upcoming CONCACAF U15 championships in Florida, United States of America (USA), the Guyana U15 boys team will face-off with the Trinidad and Tobago national U15 team.
Although the date for Guyana’s departure is yet to be confirmed, the local unit will tour the twin-island republic for five days as they intensify their preparation for the continental championship which runs from August 13th-19th. Greenwood during brief remarks said:“The boys have been responding well (at training). We’ve done a lot of work in terms of tactical formation in and out of position. We have also unearthed two players who will get into the squad, that came through the academy programme, so we’re very confident with what we’ve put together from December, and also looking at the boys from where we started to what we are now.”
According to Greenwood, “We’re going to take the team to Trinidad for five days where we’re going to be playing the country’s U15 national team and that’s going to be a real good measure to see where we are. We feel we’re real strong this year but playing against Trinidad and Tobago, who happens to be one the strongest teams in CONCACAF at that level, we’ll be able to have a good idea of where we are.”
The Guyana u15 squad has made tremendous strides in 2017, after clinching the SOUALIGA Cup on June 4th via a 1-0 win over hosts St. Martin.
Expressing confidence Guyana can build on their recent accomplishment, Greenwood declared, “In our group, we feel very confident, we got St Lucia, St Kitts and Suriname, which we feel that when we put this team together, we can beat anyone in front of us.”
Upon the conclusion of the Trinidad and Tobago tour, Guyana will depart for the USA to commence their U15 campaign.
