The National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue will come alive tonight when Sparta Boss battles Future Stars and West Front Road-Gold is Money engages Back Circle in the GT Beer/’Keep Ya Five Alive’ semi-final round.
The feature semi-final encounter between Sparta Boss and Future Stars will commence at 21:00hrs and is expected to be a keenly-contested affair given the quality on both sides of the field.
Sparta Boss, giants from the East La Penitence area, sealed their berth in the final four following a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Leopold Street.
The other teams that have fallen to the star-studded Spartans who consist of Gregory Richardson, Devon Millington, Sheldon Shepherd, Solomon Austin and Eusi Phillips, are Broad Street [4-1] and Russian All-Stars [4-0].
For Future Stars, a 7-4 win against Dave and Celina’s All-Stars was recorded in the quarterfinal section.
Prior to that, the youthful setup led by the likes of Keiron Solomon, Akeemo Anthony, Kevin Cummings, Jeremy Garrett and Curtez Kellman, clinched victories against North Ruimveldt [3-1] and Melanie [7-4] were also registered.
Meanwhile, the opening semi-final affair at 20:00hrs will be a matchup of traditional foes.
Marshalled by the quartet of Hubert Pedro, Randolph Wagner, Jamal Pedro and Carl Tudor, West Front Road-Gold is Money squeaked their way into the semi-final round, via a 3-2 win against Tucville.
A 9-2 hammering of Newtown Kitty and a walkover win against Buxton also highlights their progression. On the other hand, Back Circle edged Hustlers 5-4 to secure a semi-final berth.
The Andy Duke led outfit, which also possess talents such as Jermaine Beckles, Stephon McLean, Selwyn Williams, Jermain Adams and Azariel Davis bagged wins against Rhythm Star [4-2] and Road Warriors [8-2] during the campaign.
Winner of the event will walk away with $500,000 and the championship trophy. On the other hand, the runners-up will receive $250,000 and the corresponding accolade.
