Three suspects, including a former murder accused, have been arrested in relation to the robbery/murder of Dhanpaul Dookie and they have since admitted to the crime.
Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Police Force Jairam Ramlakhan yesterday confirmed that detectives assigned to the murder probe, detained the suspects who were all previously charged in relation to other matters and they have admitted to robbing and killing Dookie.
One of the suspects, Ramlakhan said, was previously charged with murder, but the case had been discharged. The second suspect has an attempted murder charge pending in the High Court while the other was charged with several lesser criminal offences.
The police had previously said that the lifeless body of 51-year-old Dookie called “Pauline”, a labourer/ vendor was discovered with multiple stab wounds in his Uitspa Village, Demerara River home.
The circumstances surrounding the incident which occurred between 8 pm on Monday and 8 am Wednesday remains unknown.
The body is at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
