An Albouystown resident was yesterday granted his release on $10,000 bail after denying a charge of simple larceny.
Devon Rodney, 41, of 177 James and Cooper streets, Albouystown, yesterday was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown and read a charge which stated that on July 27, at Robb Street, Lacytown, Georgetown, he broke and entered the building of Bridgpaul Shivnauth and stole one water pump along with a pressure tank, one complete toilet set, two blue pedestal sinks, one stainless steel kitchen sink, nine electrical ceiling lights, two wooden panel doors and one AC unit, having a total value of $544,000.
Rodney pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him.
According to the prosecution facts, the supervisor received a report that someone had broken into the building, and the accused was later found on the premises where he was arrested.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan later granted Rodney $10,000 bail and ordered him to report to the Alberttown Police Station every Friday.
The matter was subsequently adjourned until August 16.
