The Inaugural Bartica 4 x 4 Safari, was launched yesterday and runs from August 18 to 20, 2017.
The Department of Public Information (DPI) said that the Safari was launched in the Ministry of Business’ Boardroom. The expedition will allow tourists to view Regions Four, Five Seven and Ten.
The Safari is a collaboration between the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), Rain Forest Tours, the Municipal Town Council of Region Seven and Palm Springs Hotel among other agencies.
DPI said GTA Director, Indranauth Haralsingh described the Safari as three days of adventure and a short getaway. He noted that the GTA, “Is committed to promoting and encouraging responsible, affordable adventure travel outdoor recreation and short get away. It is very important for us to develop and create new routes and tourism products and attractions”.
Representative from the Pakaraima Mountain Safari and Rain Forest Tours, Lisa Smith said that some of the places the journey will cover are, “the Linden Museum of Industrial & Socio-Cultural Heritage, the large iron Christiansburg Water Wheel, of course we will see the venue where the Rock Stone Fish Festival is held yearly, the Baracara Falls and the Marshall Falls”.
Smith noted that the focus this year is on Guyanese and on domestic tourism.
Head of Rain Forest Tours, Frank Singh said that the expedition is one that is safe. He noted that safety measures have been put in place in the event of any unfortunate incident.
