Dear Editor,
There are some positive things happening in Guyana that we don’t seem to hear about. How many of us have ever heard about Camp Goshen, located about 10 miles from Bartica? I have been to many camping site before, but to me Goshen is the best campsite in the world. One of the most unbelievable sunrises and sunsets I have ever seen was at Goshen.
I had the honour of spending two weeks at Goshen with the Baptist Church Youth Group. What I experienced and saw first hand was the most remarkable transformation of the lives of our youths. The operations of this camp (one of the seven wonders of the world) is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
Camp Goshen was built in 1973 by Southern Baptist missionaries from America. It is able to accommodate 120 youths, but this year 170 youths came to camp. There are about 300 Indigenous people living nearby. It’s very safe and clean. Camp Goshen is open to rent to the general public. I highly recommend it to churches, companies, families and individuals who just want to get away for the weekend. It is a great place to fish, swim, read and relax.
My stay revealed an amazing camp experience with the most beautiful young people. The religious programmes and games were carefully planned to bring about a transformative lifestyle for a lifetime in the lives of our youths. I am quite impressed with the Baptist Church Camp experience.
Editor, you don’t have to be a Baptist to attend the camp; youths and young adults from any or no church are able to attend.
Yours faithfully,
Anthony Pantlitz
