A North Ruimveldt man was yesterday faced with seven counts of armed robbery and remanded to prison following last week’s robbery at the E-Networks’ Cornelia Ida branch office.
Stabroek News was informed that Orandy Gordon, called ‘Quincy,” of Lot 1980 Nutmeg Street, North Ruimveldt, appeared before Magistrate Rushell Liverpool at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where he was charged with robbing seven individuals during the attack.
Bail was refused and the matter was adjourned until August 23.
This newspaper had previously reported that two armed bandits invaded the E-Networks, West Coast Demerara office at around 11.45 am last Thursday and robbed two cashiers and seven customers of their valuables before fleeing the scene in a car.
Gordon was arrested by the police hours after the attack.
The attack was the second on an E-Networks branch in less than 24 hours. As a result, the company’s management and police had said that they believed both attacks were carried out by the same persons.
The police had said that the suspects acted in the same way as those who robbed the Mon Repos Mall, East Coast Demerara branch last Wednesday afternoon.
An investigation into the other attack is still ongoing.
