Unbeaten Rose Hall Town Jammers clinched their final’s berth in the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) League Championship, crushing Fyrish Black Sharks 71-52 on Sunday at the Fyrish Court.
National u17 standout Kevon Wiggins, led the rout with a game high 30 points. He was assisted by Michael Lewis, who scored 16 points, while Terry Kurt supported with six points.
For the host, Linden Joseph recorded 18 points, whilst Garfield Benjamin and Keenan Williams chipped in with 13 and 11 points correspondingly.
Trailing 14-13 at the end of the first period, Jammers seized control of the matchup in the second quarter, outscoring their foe 16-10 to enter the halftime interval ahead at 29-24.
The visitors extended their advantage in the pivotal third period, scoring 24 points, while restricting the hosts to 13 points to enter the final quarter firmly in control at 53-37.
Jammers then sealed the score-line, as they out-hustled Black Sharks 18-15. With the win, Rose Hall Town Jammers will face-off with the winner of the second semifinal between Ithaca Hardliners and New Amsterdam (NA) Warriors at the Ithaca Hard-court.
The tournament which is slated to conclude on August 27th, featured six teams competing in an initial group format. Group-A comprised of Canje Knights, Fyrish Black Sharks and Ithaca Hardliners.
Group-B featured Rose Hall Town Jammers, Hopetown Steelers and New Amsterdam (NA) Warriors. The sponsor of the championship is Nigel Hinds Financial Net. The top three finishers will receive trophies and cash incentives.
