Guyana were eliminated from the CONCACAF Under-15 Boy’s Football Championship, losing to Puerto Rico 6-5, on sudden death penalty kicks in their playoff fixture, yesterday, at the IMG Academy, Florida, United States of America.
The score at the end of regulation time in the reduced 70 minute affair was 1-1. Guyana had taken the lead in the 31st minute through Orville Daniels. Puerto Rico equalised in the 60th minute through Yavieric Ortiz, effectively sending the fixture into extra time.
Guyana’s starting XI for the contest was Shawn Adonis (GK), Jermaine Padmore, Joshua Braithwaite, Okifi Patoir, Tyrel Khan, Orville Daniels, Jermaine Garett, Renaldo Rodrigues, Omari Glasgow, Troni Semple and Marcus Wilson.
The substitutes were Wayne Da Silva, Shannon Samnauth, Ken Salvador, Isiah James, Kevin Reddy, Ravon Bayley and Oswin Fredericks. Guyana’s record in the tournament reads: one win, two losses and one draw.
