Armed bandits yesterday robbed an employee of Buddy’s of $2M, moments after he had returned from a city bank and the police later recovered the suspected getaway car in Middle Road, La Penitence.
The incident occurred around 2.30 pm just as the employee whose name is unknown, had returned from a city bank where he had made the withdrawal for his employer.
According to reports reaching Stabroek News, the victim had just returned to the business’s Sheriff Street location when he was approached by two gunmen who relieved him of the cash and his cell phone.
The gunmen made good their escape in a waiting motor car. During the process, the victim, a licensed firearm holder discharged several rounds in their direction.
The police were summoned and they recovered the suspected getaway car in Middle Road, La Penitence with suspected bloodstains. The vehicle also bore several gunshot holes.
The victim reportedly told the police that he is convinced that the suspects were shot. However, efforts to confirm this up to last evening proved futile.
