Despite concluding the CONCACAF u15 Boys Championship with only one victory from four matches, Guyana Football Federation (GFF) President Wayne Forde said, he is delighted with the team’s overall performance.
Guyana recorded a lone win in the event which was staged in Florida, USA, defeating St. Lucia by a 1-0 scoreline. A 1-1 draw with St. Kitts and Nevis, a 3-1 loss to Suriname and a 6-5 defeat on sudden death penalty kicks to Puerto Rico [1-1 at fulltime] were the other matches in the campaign.
Speaking at a media briefing held at the GFF’s headquarters, Forde declared, that the executive committee is proud of the team’s showing and the work conducted by the management staff, noting it is a reflection of the investment being made by the federation.
According to Forde, the GFF is committed to providing an environment for the players to build and develop their respective talents, adding, that opportunities will continue to be created locally and internationally for their abilities to be showcased.
Meanwhile, GFF Technical Director Ian Greenwood noted, that the team’s performance is a reflection of the outstanding work being conducted at the Academy Training Centers (ATC). Similarly, Head-Coach Bryan Joseph praised the competitive nature of the squad during the tournament.
He noted while the team lacked the concentration to battle for the entire 90 minutes, there were many positives that emanated from the performances and that the players should build on the experience in an effort to better their showing.
