Colts grounded Eagles in the under-23 section, while Pacesetters downed Sonics in the 2nd Division, when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) League Championship, continued on Wednesday at the Burnham Court at Carmichael and Middle streets.
Colts clipped Eagles 70-56. Timothy Thompson top scored with 27 points, while Ramone Fogenay chipped in with 26 points. Chipping in with 10 and five points were Ronaldo Niles and Jonathan Mangra, respectively.
For Eagles, Nickosie Allicock led the way with 16 points, while Travis Belgrave and Shamar Huntley followed closely with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Adding eight points was Kwesi Thompson.
Leading 10-8 at the end of the first period, Colts seized control of the contest, scoring 18 points to their opponent’s 13 points to enter the halftime interval with a 28-22 lead. Colt maintained their advantage heading into the fourth period, as both teams recorded 12 points in the pivotal third stanza. However, Colts secured the result in the final quarter, outscoring Eagles by a 30-23 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Pacesetters grounded Sonics 61-43. Marvin Durant was the main threat for the winner, netting 22 points. He was supported by Rayburn Bowman and Quincy DosSantos contributed eighteen and eight points, respectively.
On the other side, Jacques Vicente top scored with 13 points, with the next best scorer coming in the form of Richard Heyliger with nine points. Contributing six points each were Terrence Audin, Wamaseh Murray and Alex Murray.
The tournament resumes at the same venue tomorrow.
