Guyana completed their fourth successive win in the ongoing Regional One Day Under-19 tournament yesterday, with a commanding 10 – wicket over Barbados at the Conaree Cricket Club Ground in St Kitts.
The inform Raymond Perez and West Indies Under-19 wicket-keeper batsman Joshua Persaud completed the ten wicket pounding after scoring 87 not out and 75 not out, respectively, to get Guyana to 167 – 0, at the beginning of the 40th over.
Perez, who now has 224 runs from four innings, on the back of three half centuries, laced six boundaries, while Persaud’s knock included the same amount of fours and one maximum.
Barbados, who had earlier won the toss and elected to bat, were bundled out for a paltry 166 in the 46th over, with spinners Ashamed Nedd (4-29), and Kevin Sinclair (4-23), having their own way with the Barbadian batsmen.
Only West Indies Under-19 opener, Shian Braithwaite showed any resistance against the Guyanese spin attack while compiling 59, a knock which lasted 99 deliveries, and included seven fours and a solitary maximum.
Guyana will now turn their attention to Trinidad and Tobago tomorrow, in what is expected to be the virtual final, since they are also unbeaten in the tournament. (Royston Alkins)
