Feroze Khan, a father of seven of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, died during the wee hours of Sunday morning after an accident along the Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara Public Road.
The accident that claimed the life of Khan, 50, who was a contractor attached to Bounty Farms Ltd, occurred at around 4.25 yesterday morning.
Police, in a statement, said that the driver of a hire car, HC 8204, was proceeding north along the western carriageway when another car, PGG 6896, which was being driven by Khan, was proceeding in the opposite direction. Khan reportedly made a sudden U-Turn into the path of the other vehicle, resulting in a collision.
As a result of the collision, Khan was removed from his vehicle in an unconscious state and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His wife, Tabitha Neblett, said Khan was driving home from the Georgetown Public Hospital. She said the last time she spoke with Khan was when he called and informed her he was leaving the hospital.
She added that sometime after she received a phone call from a sister-in-law, who told her Khan was involved in an accident and had died.
His body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police said a breathalyser test was administered to the
driver of HC 8204 and no trace of alcohol was detected in his breath. However, he was taken into custody.
