The former Halito Hotel, which was in receivership last year, was bought over by the owners of King’s Jewellery World, which is now operating it as King’s Hotel and Residences.
The hotel had been placed in the hands of receiver Harry Parmesar after the original owners had outstanding debt with the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI).
King’s has several jewellery stores and other businesses in the capital.
While the hotel has been officially opened for some months, there are still renovations being done and these are expected to be completed within two months. According to a source, work is still being done on the kitchen and the restaurant and there has not been any drastic changes, “just refurbishing.”
