A woman was yesterday granted bail after she was charged with leaking nude photos of her ex-boyfriend, which has affected him both physically and psychologically.
It is alleged that between January 1 and July 28, at North East La Penitence, without lawful explanation, Nikita Cooper exposed obscene photographs of her ex-boyfriend, tending to corrupt the public view.
Cooper denied the allegation.
Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves told the court that Cooper and her ex-boyfriend had shared a common law relationship for about five years which ended in April. He added that the defendant had circulated several nude photographs of the complainant and had admitted to the charge in a caution statement given to the police. The file in relation to the matter, according to the prosecutor is complete.
Cooper was then granted $100,000 bail by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The accused then begged for bail to be reduced, stating that, she did not have the funds to pay the bail.
The complainant in the matter, told the court that the defendant had threatened to leak photos of him and eventually did do so. He was forced to drop out of a course which he had been doing at the University of Guyana because he’s affected physically and psychologically. He further stated that Cooper took photos of him “naked as he was born,” and in one photo, he was asleep and her underwear was spread over his face.
Nevertheless, the matter will be called again on September 5, before Magistrate Dylon Bess.
