-Northern Rangers vs Camptown, Western Tigers vs Pele
Northern Rangers will oppose Camptown, while Western Tigers tackles Pele FC when the quarterfinal round in the Corona Beer Invitational Football Championship commences tonight at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda.
The opening contest at 19:00hrs will pit Group-A winner, Northern Rangers against Group-B fourth placed unit, Camptown in the always physical Kitty/Campbellville derby.
The Kitty based Rangers unit has been a revelation in this event while recording 11 goals in five group matches. The squad is led by the dangerous trident of Anthony Sancho, Stephon Reynolds and Sunil Logan.
Defensively, Rangers have only been breached twice, which is the joint best record to date. On the other hand, Camptown scored only four goals in their round-robin campaign.
Meanwhile, the feature contest at 21:00hrs adds another chapter in the long history of two teams, Group-B winner, Western Tigers will battle Group-A fourth place finisher Pele.
The West Ruimveldt heavyweight is the most balanced team in the tournament, with impressive numbers on either side of the ball.
The strike-force, which features the likes of Andrew Murray Jr, Randolph Wagner, Darren Benjamin, Lennox Cort and Dwayne McLennon, has fashioned an event leading 32 goals in five matches.
Defensively, Western Tigers have only allowed three goals, which is the second best record.
For a youthful Pele unit short on notable names, seven goals have been recorded by their forward line, while the identical number has been allowed by their rearguard.
The remaining quarterfinals will be played on Sunday at the same venue. At 19:00hrs, Santos will oppose Guyana Police Force, while GFC will engage Riddim Squad at 21:00hrs.
