Dear Editor,
I hope everyone who loves cricket saw/followed that great Test match at Headingley. It was an exciting and beautiful illustration of the great game at its best. Sadly, Test cricket will probably have to give pride of place to limited over games for commercial reasons and because time is measured differently in this accelerating age, but when you see cricket as played in the Headingley Test you know what is missing in even the best T20 games.
I am hoping against hope (Hope is an appropriate word) that this is not a West Indies flash in the pan. But even if it was ‒ what a glorious flash!
Yours faithfully,
Ian McDonald
