The storm on Sunday in the vicinity of the Splashmins Resort on the Soesdyke/ Linden Highway resulted in the dislocation of seven poles belonging to the Guyana Power and Light (GPL), partially due to uprooted trees falling on the line. A release from GPL yesterday said that the supply of power to customers in surrounding communities was consequently interrupted.
Maintenance crews were dispatched to the area to repair the damaged network and power was expected to be restored last evening.
