Kobras routed Sonics while Eagles soared past Plaisance Guardians in the Open and U23 divisions respectively when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) League tournament continued on Monday.
Kobras made light work of Sonics winning 78-36 at the Burnham Court on Carmichael and Middle Streets.
Travis Burnett led the rout with 21 points. Garfield Grenville and Mark Richards were the other scorers in double figures with 18 and 12 points respectively.
Adding eight and five points in the rout were Triston Burnett and Carlos Edwards respectively. For Sonics, Trevor Smith played a lone hand of 18 points.
The lopsided contest started from the opening whistle as Kobras secured an 18-8 lead at the end of the first period.
Kobras built on their advantage in the second quarter scoring 21 points, while restricting Sonics to seven points to enter the halftime break ahead at 39-15.
The rout continued in the third period with Kobras outscoring Sonics 16-7 to enter the final period firmly in control at 55-22, effectively ending the contest.
The match ended as it begun, with Kobras outclassing Sonics once again by a 23-14 score line in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Eagles defeated Plaisance Guardians 72-52.
Shamar Huntley recorded 17 points in the win with Patrice Agrippa, Travis Belgrave, Dequan Wray and Kwesi Thompson adding 14, 12, 11 and nine points each.
On the other side, Almond Bovell recorded a game high 21 points, while Delroy Critchlow and Jared Sears chipped in with 13 and four points apiece. The tournament resumes today at the same venue with another doubleheader.
