The Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden will come alive tonight when an exciting doubleheader kicks-off at 19:00hrs in the Hamilton Green Cup football tournament.
The two matches will pit the Mining Town against the invading East Coast of Demerara and Soesdyke Highway teams respectively. In the opening fixture, Winners Connection will oppose Kuru-Kururu.
Offensively, Winners Connection feature the dangerous duo of Marmarlaque Davidson and Rawle Gittens, alongside midfield dynamo Keon Sears. Defensively, the Linden unit will be led by Alan Garnett and Darrel Dainty.
For the visitors, national beach football striker Cordell Johnson will lead their charge alongside the ever improving Michael Charles, while the defensive duties will be shouldered by the duo of Joseph Walker and goalkeeper Joshua George.
Meanwhile, the feature contest will pit Milerock against Plaisance at 21:00hrs. The quartet of Joel McKinnon, Kevin Beaton, Denzil Fordyce and Nellon Copeland will provide the main attacking threat for the Linden unit.
On the defensive end, Oswald Benjamin will lead a developing unit that comprises rising star and national u17 goalkeeper Jonathan Copeland.
In the opposition ranks, the speedy Vincent Thomas is the standout name for a rebuilding unit. From the defensive end, much will be expected from the likes of Travis Simon and Javid Mohammed.
The event will continue September 15th at the same venue. In the opening match, Silver Shattas opposes Riddim Squad from 19:00hrs, while Eagles battles Soesdyke FC at 21:00hrs.
Winner of the tournament will receive $500,000 and the Minister of Citizenship Trophy while the runners-up will pocket $250,000 and the Busta Trophy.
The third place finisher will collect $150,000 and the John Fernandes accolade and the fourth place finisher will walk away with $100,000 and the Cummings Electrical Trophy.
