Pacesetters Basketball teams secured hard-fought wins in the first and U23 divisions when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) League Championship continued on Friday at the Burnham Court on Carmichael and Middle Streets.
Pacesetters downed Plaisance Guardians 63-59 in their first-division clash with Sherlon Legall netting 15 points while Nathan Saul, Stephon Gillis, Jermaine Hamilton and Travis Williams added 13, 12, 11 and nine points each.
For Plaisance Guardians, Trenton Woolford and Nikoloi Smith scored 18 and 15 points respectively. They were assisted by the trident of Marlon Chesney, Kwame Fox and Marlon Powdar, who added nine, five and four points each.
In the U23 division, Pacesetters edged Kobras 75-67. Marvin Durant top scored in the win with 25 points while Quincy DosSantos chipped in with 19 points. Adding 10 and nine points were Judah Stephney and Liam Fraites respectively.
For Kobras, Amoniki John recorded 20 points, while Justin Algu, Rondel Archer, Rawlewayne Payne and Akeem Morrison added 13, 10, eight and six points apiece.
The tournament resumes today at the same venue with another double-header.
