Fresh off back-to-back sevens club championships, the Panthers rugby outfit switched seamlessly into the longer format of the game and demolished the Police Falcons 67-7 in the opener of the Bounty Farm XV’s yesterday at the National Park.
Tries by Daniel Anderson (three), Lloyd Anderson (two), Osei McKenzie (two), skipper Rondell McArthur (one), Delmar Headley (one) and Jacques Archibald (one) put paid to the efforts of the Guyana’s newest and most inexperienced side. Godfrey Broomes who buried a penalty kick also teamed up with Lloyd Anderson to nail two conversions apiece. Telroy McAlmont also recorded a conversion.
Akino Jones (try) and Daniel DeAbreu (conversion) were the players on the scoresheet for the Falcons.
The Panthers who won the GRFU and the Trophy Stall 7s championships in succession over the past two weeks, showed no mercy to the hapless Falcons routing the opposition with relative ease, recording try after try.
The tournament continues today at 16:00hrs with GDF facing the Caribs.
Notes: THE BOUNTY FARM XV’s TOURNAMENT runs until November 12, with five teams playing two rounds of matches. The teams, mainly men, will play 20 matches on the weekends.
The females will play Sevens games starting next week.
The Bounty Farm 15s title was last won by the former UG Wolves, (now the Panthers) a team which is coached by Laurie Adonis.
