Stabroek News freelance reporter Joanna Dhanraj was on Friday evening robbed of valuables including her camera and important documents in the vicinity of the Stabroek Market.
The incident occurred around 8.30 pm while Dhanraj and a friend had stopped on their way home to purchase a copy of the daily newspapers.
The bandit made good his escape with her computer bag containing a Canon Eos Rebel SL 1 camera, two chargers, an external hard drive, a 16GB flash drive, a wireless mouse, 2 (8GB) & 1 (2GB) memory cards and other personal items including her national ID card, University ID, bank cards, a quantity of cash and keys.
Dhanraj explained to this newspaper that she and her friend had visited the hospital earlier in the evening and they were heading home when they decided to stop in the vicinity of the market to purchase the newspaper.
She explained that her friend parked his car near the Digicel outlet and they exited.
She said they returned about fifteen minutes later and while they were about to enter the car, the bandit snatched the bag containing the items which was on the back seat of the car.
Dhanraj said she raised an alarm but the suspect managed to flee the scene.
A report was made at the Brickdam Police Station and the police have since uplifted fingerprints from the car.
