Probe launched of President’s press officer’s alleged slur

An investigation has been launched into private Facebook conversations between President David Granger’s Public Information and Press Services Officer Lloyda Nicholas-Garrett and friends which were allegedly leaked, Head of the Press and Publicity Unit of the Ministry of the Presidency (MOTP), Mark Archer said last evening.

Major Region Two projects delayed

In light of the claims by the Regional Executive Officer (REO) of Region Two, Rupert Hopkinson that contractors were not being directed to their projects sites and not being paid on time, Chairman of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Devanand Ramdatt says that the issues highlighted were as a result of the REO’s failure to communicate properly with the work services group.

Workshop focuses on tapping international green $$

The Office of Climate Change (OCC) on Tuesday opened a three-day workshop at the Herdmanston Lodge, which will focus on building the capacity of community leaders and private and public sector stakeholders to tap  the international Green Climate Fund (GCF) A release from the Ministry of the Presidency on Tuesday noted that the Green Climate Fund was set up in 2010 at the 16th Conference of Parties in Cancun, Mexico and is now the world’s largest dedicated climate fund.

UWI to build own LNG power plant

(Jamaica Gleaner) The University of West Indies, Mona (UWI) will set up and operate a 7 megawatt liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, which is projected to shave off up to $350 million annually from the campus’ energy costs.
