History was created on Monday when Victory Valley Royals humbled Bankers Trust Falcons 206-46 in the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) Open Basketball Championships at the Malteenoes Sports Club Hard-Court, Linden.
Harold Adams copped an individual scoring record in the embarrassing rout, netting an unimaginable 111 points, in the process besting his career output of 46 points.
He also set a club record, after smashing team-mate Chris Williams’s previous mark of 76 points set a few years prior. Orlando Glasgow, Chris Williams and Marlon Pollydore got into the scoring act by adding 31, 22 and 16 points respectively.
For the losing team, Lawrence Simon and Stephan Duncan scored 13 points each.
Although the opening period did not set the tone for the blitz, Royals raced to a commanding 40-13 margin.
This was significantly increased in the second period as Royals outscored Falcons by a 43-6 score to enter the halftime break ahead at 83-19.
Despite the contest being over, Royals heaped further misery on the Falcons, scoring 66 points while restricting their foe to eight points to lead 149-27.
The demolition was completed in the final stanza, as Royals tallied 57 points to Falcons 19 to cement their place in local history.
Meanwhile, Retrieve Raiders edged Amelia’s Ward Jets 57-55. Neil Marks top scored with 16 points while Duel Montrose added 10 points. For the losing team, Parrish Cadogan recorded 20 points.
