The Dorado swim club will host the first swim meet since the Twenty-Third Goodwill Swim Meet took place last month. The Dorado Speed Swim Club Invitational Pentathlon is scheduled for 14th October and will be held at the National Aquatic Centre (NAC), Liliendaal.
The meet will see the swimmers battling for top honours for themselves and their clubs. The local teams expected to be represented are Dolphin Speed Swim Club, Orca Speed Swim Club, Sea- Otters Swim Club and the host club. Two teams from neighbouring Suriname are also expected to be in attendance.
The rules of the Pentathlon are that the participants must swim in all of five of the events in their respective age-group – the individual medley (IM), butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle events – in order to qualify for the individual high point’s trophy.
Swimmers are welcomed to compete in less than five events if they so wish, but they will not be eligible for the champion trophy. The first three finishers in each race will be presented medals. The winners of the Pentathlon for each age group will receive trophies, and the three clubs who gain the most points will be awarded trophies.
Interested persons can register and pay their entry fees of $200 on October 6th between 5.30 and 7.30 p.m. at the NAC. Age group eligibility is determined by the age of the competitor on December 31, 2016. Warm up is scheduled for 2.30 p.m. and the meet starts at 3.30 p.m.
