A resident of Parika, East Bank Essequibo, whom police say has long been suspected of drug trafficking, was arrested in Bartica yesterday with a quantity of cannabis.
According to a brief police statement on the arrest, at about 10.30 am, the suspect, a 37-year-old speed boat operator, was arrested by ranks of the Guyana Police Force at First Avenue, Bartica, with a haversack containing 868 grammes (1.9lb) of cannabis.
He is being processed for court, the statement added.
