The cycling season continues tomorrow with a 98-mile road race.
According the Assistant Racing Secretary of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF), Joseph Britton, the federation will pedal off a points race from 08:00hrs on Homestretch Avenue.
The event will proceed to Timehri Bottle, then to Camp Seweyo before returning to Homestretch Avenue for the finish.
Tomorrow’s event will be the fourth points race for the 2017 season in an effort to create a transparent system for eligibility for selection to overseas assignments, the GCF has embarked on organizing events where points are awarded to the top wheelsmen.
The sum of 15 points are awarded for a win. Team Coco’s standout rider, Jamal John has recorded two wins so far.
Britton also told Stabroek Sport that following the conclusion of the season in November, the top wheelsmen in their respective categories will be rewarded for their efforts throughout the year during an award ceremony.
