Over the years, I have experimented with and grown various types of roses: Dutch, English, American and tropical.
They all grew and bloomed for a short period of time. With changing weather patterns most of the imported roses would only survive under semi-shaded conditions, while receiving morning sun light. Roses likes rich soil whether you plant them in a pot or in the earth; fertilize with Miracle Gro Rose Food or Bloom Booster.
There are a lot of Dutch roses on the market, however, their survival rate is disappointing; they are short lived. So, garden friends be careful when choosing your rose plants. Look for hardiness, blooming time and disease resistance.
Read about roses and ask questions, the persons selling them are supposed to be knowledgeable about them.
Personally, I would not trade my cashew (English) roses for any other. They have passed the test of times. My oldest cashew rose is 20-plus years.
Good luck with your rose plants.
Until next week, Happy Gardening.
