Two suspects have been apprehended in relation to an armed robbery that occurred early yesterday morning at Mon Repos, where a contractor was relieved of a gold chain valued $1.6 million.
The contractor, 44-years-old, was robbed at gunpoint at Agriculture Road, Mon Repos, around 1.45 am.
The suspects, ages 26 and 31, hail from the villages of Mon Repos and Beterverwagting, a police report stated, and the men have also been linked to another recent robbery involving a couple, in which they are assisting with investigations.
It was stated that while the chain was not recovered, the motorcycle used in the robbery is in police custody.
The police press release also said that they responded within minutes of the robbery occurring, and ranks of the Police Anti-Crime Patrol were able to apprehend the suspect on the motorcycle. The other was found after several searches were conducted.
The investigation is in progress.
