The 45th edition of the CAC Bodybuilding and Fitness championships has been postponed until further notice following the earthquake in Mexico City.
Tuesday’s earthquake killed more than 200 people and toppled many buildings.
The championship which hosts the cream of musclemen and women from the Caribbean and Central America, was scheduled to be held from September 29 to October 1 in the Mexican capital.
The decision was reached after consultation with the President of the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB) and the CACBBFF Executive Council with input from the Mexican Organizing Committee.
Below is an excerpt from the post on the CACBBFF Facebook page confirming the postponement of the event.
The decision was reached in light of the tragic circumstances in the region with the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria as well as concerns for the safety of all persons attending and participating at the championships is our major priority.
The CACBBFF continues to have in its thoughts and prayers the various countries within the Caribbean and Mexico who continue to be affected by the unfortunate natural disasters and weather and wish them continued strength in rebuilding their lives and communities.
We shall inform all national federations on the way forward in our next communique.
