Seoesdyke Falcons in come-from-behind win over Mahaica Determinators

Den Amstel, Soesdyke Falcons and Ann’s Grove secured quarterfinal berths, when the Hamilton Green Football Championship continued on Sunday at the Victoria Community ground.

Although three contests were hard-fought affairs, the evening belonged to Soesdyke Falcons, who overcame a 0-2 deficit to defeat Mahaica Determinators by a 4-2 score line.

The East Bank Demerara outfit secured the unlikely result compliments of a second half offensive assault, which produced three unanswered goals.
The come from behind victory started in the first half, as Colin McLean halved the deficit in the 39th minute. Upon the start of the second stanza, Soesdyke dominated proceedings, led by a double from Orin Tosha.

Tosha equalised in the 60th minute, before John Gordon handed Falcons the lead for the first time in the 70th minute. The result was then completed in the 78th minute, as sealed his brace.

Prior to the dramatic comeback, Eon Abel and Kirk Roberts handed Mahaica the early advantage via goals in the second and 14th minute apiece.

Meanwhile, Den Amstel defeated Golden Grove 2-0. Morgan Denny and Gideon Payne were on target in the seventh and 55th minute respectively.

Similarly, Ann’s Grove battled past Buxton Stars 1-0. Phillip Williams found the back of the net in the 49th minute. The event continues on Sunday October 1st at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda with another triple-header.

The first fixture will pit Santos against Uitvlugt from 17:00hrs, while Western Tigers battles Milerock at 19:00hrs. In the feature contest at from 21:00hrs, GFC will lock horns with Eagles FC of Linden.

The event will then move to the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden on October 2nd. The Guyana Police Force will take aim at Silver Shattas at 19:00hrs, while Winners Connection match skills with Riddim Squad from 21:00hrs.

The quarterfinal round commences on Sunday October 8th at the Victoria Community ground. Winner of the tournament will receive $500,000 and the Minister of Citizenship Trophy.

On the other hand, the runners-up will pocket $250,000 and the Busta Trophy, while the third place finisher will collect $150,000 and the John Fernandes accolade.
The fourth place finisher will walk away with $100,000 and the Cummings Electrical Trophy.
