Dear Editor,
I have concerns about the canteens situated at the North Ruimveldt Secondary School in Mandela Avenue, Georgetown. There is one canteen that has been in operation for about twenty years now, under approved hygienic standards. The prices for their food, drinks, juices and snacks are very reasonable. I found it strange that another canteen is now operating in the same school from this new term under conditions which don’t meet the same standards. They are sited where there is bare concrete floor and no running water, etc, but the students are being directed to this new canteen.
I would like to know if the Ministry of Education is aware of this development, and is allowing the new canteen to operate.
Yours faithfully,
