Dear Editor,
I believe that it was last week that you solicited views from persons on the street about Guyanese acquiring a second language, preferably Spanish and/or Portuguese.
If one were to listen to our radio more than TV it would seem that we do not like our Guyanese accent. As Dave Martin would say, some of us become Yankee before we even touch down in the USA.
What has become of Margaret Lawrence, Melissa Pearson, Ron Robinson, Carlton James, Basil Bradshaw, Isaiah Chapel, all of whom have natural accents and are grammatically correct?
