Two men were each sentenced to nine months in jail yesterday by a city magistrate after they pleaded guilty to larceny charges.
Junior Lynch was charged with stealing a $60,000 phone, which was the property of Aruna Sankar, on September 26 at Mandela Avenue. It was also alleged that at the time of, before or after the robbery, he made use of personal violence.
Lynch, after admitting to the crime, told the court that he did rob the complainant but never used violence.
Magistrate Leron Daly subsequently sentenced him to nine months.
Meanwhile, Clairmont Smith was also sentenced to nine months in jail after he admitted to stealing a metal band.
The charge, which was also read to him by Magistrate Daly, stated that on September 26, at Laing Avenue, he stole a $10,000 metal band, which was the property of Felicia Smith. He was too was then sentenced to nine months in jail.
