Guyana’s 3×3 basketball team will have to get past either Ecuador or Venezuela in an effort to advance in the basketball competition at the South American Youth Games currently underway in Santiago, Chile.
According to Chef-de-Mission of the Guyana contingent Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) vice president Godfrey Munroe, Guyana will take on Ecuador Thursday at 4.50pm (Guyana time). They will then take on Venezuela on Friday at 1.25pm (Guyana time) with the top two teams advancing to the next round.
Some 11 countries are going for gold in the 3×3 competition and Guyana has been seeded number 10 just ahead of Paraguay.
The tournament ends Sunday.
The Guyana team, coached by Junior Hercules is: Nigel Bowen, Shamar France, Akeem Crandon, captain, and Isaiah Hintzen.
