Former national U17 left-arm spinner Javed Rasheed dished out his career best performances in both the batting and bowling departments to see Everest to a 368-run pounding of Diplomats in the Georgetown Cricket Association/Noble House Seafoods second-division, two-day competition played at the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) ground over the weekend.
Everest elected to bat after winning the toss and piled up 306 – 5 before declaring their innings closed with Khemraj Ramdeen stroking 120 and Rishi Hiralall 90.
Diplomats, in reply were bundled out for 147 as Rasheed wreaked havoc by claiming 9 – 46, his career-best bowling performance.
- Bobb scored a half century (51) for Diplomats. Everest refused to enforce the follow-on and, batting a second time, reached 284 all out with Ramdeen slamming 101 while Rasheed supported with 79. Diplomats, needing 443 for an unlikely victory, were limited to 75 – 7 with two of their batsmen being no shows forcing the innings to close.
Rasheed took 4 – 18 from 8.4 overs to complete Everest’s victory.
