Upper Corentyne defeated East Bank by 87 runs while the encounter between West Demerara and Lower Corentyne ended in a draw as sixth-round action in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/ Jaguars three – day league ended, yesterday.
Upper Corentyne resuming on 201 – 0 with openers Kandasammy Surujnarine (109) and Balchand Baldeo (79), coasting along, declared their innings closed on 291 – 3 after earning a lead of 313. Surujnarine stroked 150 from 191 deliveries while Baldeo failed to add to his overnight total.
East Bank in pursuit of 314 for victory, were dismissed for 227 in 67.1 overs as Ronaldo Ali Mohamed smashed 96 from 90 deliveries. Sean Pereira grabbed 3 for 72 while Clinton Pestano and Eon Hooper picked up two wickets each bowling for Upper Corentyne.
Meanwhile, West Demerara and Lower Corentyne ended in a draw at Young Warriors. Lower Corenytne resuing on 146 for 8, were dismissed for 153 as Alex Algoo posted an unbeaten 68.
Akshaya Persaud, Richie Looknauth, Keshram Seyhodan and Mehendra Dhanpaul shared two wickets each. West Demerara in their second innings reached 206 for 4 in 80 overs. Skipper Persaud ended unbeaten on 101 while Tevin Imlach stroked 64.
