Members of the executive team of the Innovation Programme of Guyana (IPoG) formerly YIPoG met on Monday in the Ministry of Education’s Boardroom to make arrangements for final disbursements of funds, a press release from the ministry said.
These funds are part of President David Granger’s $50M initiative for innovative solutions to community challenges in all ten of the administrative regions.
Proposals from all ten administrative regions have been reviewed and while most are working towards completion of the projects some have already completed theirs.
Disbursements began on September 15 and will continue to be made up until December 15, 2017. These projects are themed on Science Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Anthropology, Archaeology, Architec-ture, the arts, Mathematics and spirituality- STEAMS. The objective is the creation of employment through innovative ideas.
The project is being managed under the auspices of the Ministry of Education with guidance from. Minister Nicolette Henry.
The team continues to engage with Bridget Hinds, Senior Technical officer within the Ministry of Education who served as an initial management consultant to the former Youth Innovation Project of Guyana. Twenty-five groups and 14 STEM Clubs are grant recipients of the project.
