A Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara man was yesterday remanded on an attempted murder charge.
The charge against Kurt Kendall, 29, states that being together with others on February 3, at Mandela Avenue, he discharged a loaded firearm at Christopher Marks, with the intent to commit murder.
Kendall, who was not required to plead to the charge, is the second person to be charged with the crime. The other man charged with the crime is Samuel Adams.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail being granted, citing the fact that the accused was on the run since the matter was filed in March.
Kendall, however, told the court that he was not aware that he was to be present in court since he was out of the country for the past six months and was only made aware in September that a summons was sent for him to attend court.
Nevertheless, Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan remanded the accused and transferred the matter to the courtroom of Magistrate Judy Latchman.
