Dear Editor,
We have been members of the Guyana Swine Producers Co-op Society Ltd for over two years. We joined the co-op with the promise that each member would get piglets and feed to breed high-grade piglets for the local and overseas market with a grant from the Government of Guyana. Eighty piglets arrived in Guyana sometime in June 2016 which were to be shared among poultry members of the co-op. They were to get two each with the agreement that each member who did not get would be given two piglets each from the members who received first.
Up to now we are still waiting for our piglets that we paid five thousand dollars for, and all we are getting is promises and more promises. We decided to pay a visit to the society’s farm. We discovered that each of them took fifteen piglets for themselves and left most of us with nothing; we are calling on the government to investigate this fraud.
Yours faithfully,
