The University of Guyana (UG) and the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), yesterday recorded wins in the latest round of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Noble House Seafoods, second-division 40 – overs competition.
UG completed a comprehensive seven-wicket win over the Guyana Defence Force (GCF) at Camp Ayanganna. After winning the toss, GDF decided to bat and were dismissed for a paltry 155 in 39.1 overs with off-spinner Dwayne Dodson picking up 4 -13.
The academics then cantered to 160 – 3 in 25 overs with Mahendra Persaud stroking an unbeaten 55 while Omesh Danram managed 49 to complete the victory.
Meanwhile, GCC brushed aside the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) at GCC on the back of a strong all-round performance from Joshua Wade.
GCC, after winning the toss, invited MSC to take the first strike in 25 overs reduced game which saw MSC being bundled out for 93 in the 24th over.
Carlos LaRose top scored with a 31 from 33 deliveries which included two maximums and a boundary while Jeremiah Scott managed 21 as Wade pickup 3 -2 from five overs.
GCC in reply cantered to 94 – 2 with Wade returning to smash 42 form 22 deliveries to hand his side an emphatic eight-wicket victory.
