Optique donates spectacles: In observation of World Sight Day, Optique Vision Care on Thursday donated spectacles to nine children from Bless the Children home.
A number of children were selected for free screening during a visit to the orphanage. Out of the total, twelve were identified for further assessment by the organisation’s Paediatric Optometrist. Nine of them were found to have refractive errors. As a result, the children were presented with new spectacles tailored towards correcting each individual’s refractive error.
General Manager and co-founder of Optique Vision Care, Dhani Andrew Narine told Stabroek News that during the visit to the orphanage his organisation recognised the need to assist the children. As such, he said they decided to provide free eye care to those selected after the screening procedure with the spectacles.
In addition to this initiative, Optique Vision Care has also partnered with the Ophthalmology Department at the Georgetown Public Hospital to provide free screening for diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma at the Giftland Mall.
The handing over of the spectacles was done at the East Street location.
