Jamaica completed a 39-run victory over Guyana in the final of the second Annual Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association Independence T20 Cup at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Saturday evening.
Jamaica, batting first in the 15 overs-a-side reduced game, amassed a mammoth 206 – 2 from their full complement overs as skipper Chadwick Walton smashed a belligerent 101 while Guyanese Trevon Griffith laced an unbeaten 69 to hurt his countrymen.
Guyana, in their pursuit, fell short by 39 runs, ending on 167 – 8 at the end of their allotted 15 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Anthony Bramble was in fine form striking an unbeaten 63 which nearly took Guyana over the line.
Christopher Barnwell (27) and Romario Shepherd (24*) also contributed to Guyana’s unsuccessful run chase.
Oshane Walters grabbed 4 – 21 from three overs bowling for the Jamaicans.
